Your Beverages Choice: Drink coffee for health?

Since Ethiopian discovered unique properties of coffee in 9th century, coffee have taken over western civilization by storm. Apparently Finnish is the heaviest coffee drinkers with 12kg consumption per person annually while Malaysian consumes at average 0.9 kg coffee.

Coffee has been linked to numerous alleged health risks including leading to iron deficiency anaemia, headaches, temporary stiffening arterial walls, and blocking absorption of calcium. However, these health risks are generally more common for those who drink coffee in excess.

Bear in mind that health benefits of coffee is not only for their caffeine properties considering the fact that some other food also contains it, these are 8 points why you should continue sipping your coffee.

  • 1. Unprocessed coffee beans provide source of approximately 1000 antioxidants. Antioxidants prevent damage of free radicals in body.
  • 2. Polyphenols, one of antioxidant in coffee help curb certain cancers.
  • 3. Reducing risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. (Be extra careful with additional sugar)
